Jakarta, SAWIT INDONESIA - Minister of Defence Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin conducted a working visit to South Papua on Sunday (8 June), accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Forestry, Minister of Public Works, and several other government officials.
The delegation visit centered on the planned palm oil-based biodiesel development program in Boven Digoel, a government strategy aimed at strengthening national energy resilience and reducing reliance on fuel imports, particularly diesel.
This programme is part of President Prabowo Subianto’s national strategy to achieve energy self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on imported fuel, particularly diesel.
He explained that the biodiesel project is part of a broader plan to reduce Indonesia’s dependence on imported fuels, particularly diesel. The move aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to ensure long-term energy security for the nation.
“This is a clear step toward making sure we’re not overly dependent on energy from outside the country,” Sjamsoeddin said.
Travelling by helicopter from Tanah Merah Airport, the Minister continued the journey to the designated palm oil development area. The visit included an aerial survey of the proposed palm oil plantation area and observation of the surrounding area under the responsibility of Territorial Development Battalion 803.
